[Devlog]Production Sprint 2 Week 2.5

The second production sprint is almost near it’s end with a small extra amount of time being added due to Creaweek.Most of our features are already inside our game but we still have some ideas that we think would add more to the game right now.

Our biggest issue during this week was not having a stable build where the game is playable and this brings us to our first topic:

1)How can we fix the issue behind our build problem?

Currently in our build all of our inputs are delayed and they aren’t as responsive as they should be.This makes the current experience really frustrating and not fun at all.We fixed some of our errors in our code but unfortunately the issue hasn't been resolved and we might have to resort to more drastic means(like rewriting a part of our code to fix the issue).

2) How can we make the ball spawner add more to the game?

We thought that our ball spawner is too static and boring so we needed to come up with a better idea than having ball just spawn out of nowhere.Our solution to this problem is to have them being dropped by one of our props.A rocket which will at random intervals cross the map and drop the balls.This will make grabbing the bombs and the hamster balls much more competitive and interesting at the same time.

3)How can we make our grid more interesting?

During our game project presentations we got some really useful feedback.It gave us the idea to actually to try having blocks instead of the grid which after some time or by some kind of trigger , they are going to move downwards or upwards.This will definitely make the level feel more alive and at the same time provide some extra challenge to the players.

4)Should we make the snake interact more with the players?

Right now the snake eats the poison and hamster balls, sleeps and rotates.It’s behavior is pretty simple and straightforward.It could potentially knock back players or move also a bit inside the level instead of rotating but those additions will need more animations and will make the whole process more difficult. This is something we still research.

Now that we are almost finished with this production sprint and most of the features.Implementing the animations correctly and making sure we don't leave anything we think of as an important feature in our game is top priority right now.
